Materials for fluid-gap electrostatic actuators
There has been a growing interest in soft robotics towards new types of electrostatic actuators that use dielectric fluids and insulating polymer-based thin-films, providing advantages like high power density, quick response, and cost-effectiveness. This contribution aims at exploring how the use of different dielectric materials for realization of such devices can influence their performance and introduce a possible solution for the future improvement of fluid-gap zipping electrostatic actuator systems.
